Soccer Online – England Win Fantasy Football World Cup
Possibly something you did not expect to hear this year after the poor performance by the real England team in their World Cup football games, however in the virtual World Cup tournament held by Football Superstars, England reigned supreme. Football Superstars exists as a massively multi-player online game, known as an MMO.
England are the 2010 World Cup Winners – not at South Africa 2010, but in online football. Thankfully for those taking part in the massively multi-player virtual World Cup tournament brought on by Football Superstars, the England team online performed much better than the real team this year. In this virtual tournament seeing teams play soccer online, England managed to hold off Germany in the group stages, experiencing a 1-1 draw. The German team progressed to a crushing defeat against the Ukrainian team, losing 2-1 and putting the final nail in the coffin of their World Cup hopes, knocking them out at the group stages. Effortlessly defeating the Lithuania team in the Quarter Finals, coming away with a massive 9-1 win, the England team was on a roll and in high spirits as they went on to the Semi Final against Portugal, a team they certainly would enjoy beating. The game was determined in the midfield, with both teams fighting for control; when all was said and done the England squad came out on top managing to score 2 more goals than the Portuguese team, the end result was 4-2 seeing England go through to the final and Portugal leaving the tournament in despair. The final would be seeing Russia and England – both teams wanted the win, but only one team could have it. The game went off well for the English as they got an early lead, scoring in less than a minute. All was not a cakewalk for the England team, though, and Russia quickly answered the early goal with a goal of their own, showing that they came to play. It made for a very exciting online football game as Russia equalized, given an intercepted clearance by the English goalie that saw him way off his line and the resulting shot far out of reach. However, the victory didn’t last long for the Russian team as the English scored a close goal at the opposite end. The game went England’s way as they scored more goals and, while the Russian team had the heart, they just seemed unable to make any real come back throughout the rest of the game. At the end of the day England became heroes, becoming the Football Superstars PMC World Cup winners. CyberSports Community Manager Andrew Ruddick expressed his opinions on the tournament, declaring it the largest event ever hosted by Football Superstars. He thanked every single team who took part, saying the level of organization and dedication throughout was amazing, making for some incredibly competitive games. He stopped things by thanking everybody taking part in the event and congratulated the England team for the fantastic level of play they had shown throughout the tournament. There will be another World Cup tournament in the coming months.
